因為維多利亞女王極為偏愛這家蒸餾廠的威士忌，酒廠特別為女王從艾雷島免稅運送到女王位於溫沙堡的住所！熟成於雪莉酒桶(Butt)的14年，給予了威士忌古董般的誘人的古銅色。我們更進一步被它的燒焦的焦糖香味和裊裊上升的雪茄煙味所深深的吸引住。純飲留給我們盆栽用土和硫磺煙的味道的印象。不過這款麥芽威士忌在加水後，它的風味迅速的展現開來。燒焦的BBQ口味的香腸，和淡淡的舊馬尼拉紙製的信封；口感更混合了多種Islay獨特的強烈特色─煤炭土、硫磺和游泳池。如此精采的風味當然能”取悅”維多利亞女王。

Queen Victoria was so partial to a dram of this fine whisky that the distillery transported it from Islay to Windsor for her duty free! 14 years in a refill butt has imparted an inviting antique copper colour. We were tempted further by aromas of burnt caramel, Blackjack sweets and cigar smoke. Tasting without water left us with an impression of John Innes potting compost and sulphur smoke. With water this dram develops greatly. There is burnt BBQ sausages and (for some) the sense of old Manila envelopes. This is mixed with more powerful Islay characteristics; coal dust, sulphur and swimming pools. Queen Victoria would certainly be “amused”!
